Here’s an Innkeeper Update from the Prairie House Manor Bed & Breakfast, located in De Smet, South Dakota:
Greetings from DeSmet, South Dakota, home of Laura Ingalls Wilder. We were concerned about booking rooms this spring because of the economy but, to our surprise, we have been very busy. We have noticed a trend: it seems that much of our business has been from “local” folks from a 2-state radius.
We figure to save money in this tough economy, people are staying closer to home and are still getting a nice few days’ getaway. It has been a pleasant surprise, and one we are very thankful for. It has been a great start to our season.
We wanted to share this with all of you to both encourage the B&B Owner, and to encourage the Vacationer to take a short trip, and stay at a B&B near you.
